Kati Tuominen-Niittylä was born in Helsinki 1947. She studied at the University of Art and Design Helsinki and has had a studio at the Arabia factory since 1980, where she works as an artist and designer.

Her unique pieces are exceptional objects. They are memories, observations as well as sentiments. She likes the minimalistic structure on the surface of her works whilst the form with small gestures to create a quiet whole. Since the firing of clay has long and strong traditions, she has brought her works up to date with modern materials and as a part of modern architecture and interior design whilst preserving their ceramic nature. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and has a worldwide following. Her minimalistic and timeless language of forms appear in several serial production products and unique art works.
