David Roberts enjoys an international reputation for his Raku fired ceramics. His vessels are large and coil built. He also makes slab built wall pieces.

All his ceramics are fired with his own distinctive Raku surfaces developed and evolved over the past 35 years. They reflect an increasing engagement with landscape and a fascination with the transformation of idea and image by material and process.

Roberts is acknowledged as responsible for the introduction and promotion of modern large scale Raku in Europe. He has also been instrumental in the re-introduction to the USA where his example has played a key role in the foundation of the Naked Raku movement. Roberts has transformed it into a vibrant and contemporary art form.
